I’m a smoker. Will this affect my cover? What substances count towards smoking?

Yes, smoking will affect how much cover we can offer you. This is because smokers may be more likely to develop some serious health problems, making it tougher for insurance companies to cover them. For $1 a Day Funeral Cover, this means a lower benefit amount may be quoted to you, compared to someone who doesn’t smoke.

FYI - “smoking” refers to any substance, including tobacco products (cigarettes and cigars), e-cigarettes, nicotine patches and illegal stuff (you know what we mean). To be considered a non-smoker, you must be smoke-free for at least 12 months before the date you buy a new policy or update one you already have.
